Cuba’s Central Army commemorated on Friday its 47th anniversary. A politico-cultural ceremony took place at the Defense Preparation School in Matanzas presided by Army Corps General (Lt. General) Joaquín Quinta Solá (Chief, Central Army), presidents and vice-presidents of the Defense Councils of the five provinces comprising of respective commands.

A military review was held with blocks of infantry, tank, and artillery units, Special Troops, Revolutionary War Navy, Ministry of Interior, sharpshooters, Camilitos, units of the MTT (Territorial Troop Militias) and Production and Defense Brigades.

The cohesion of the different forces and Cuban means was used for the defense of a zone besieged by a supposed enemy, with the use of tanks, infantry, artillery and aviation.

The success of the territorial device against several attempts of invasion was praised by the President of the Provincial Defense Council of Havana Ivan Ordaz, at the end of the military exercise Moncada 2007.

In statements to media, he affirmed the capacity and preparation of FAR (Revolutionary Armed Forces), MTT (Territorial Troops Military men) and the peoples was demonstrated.

He added that the territory worked strongly during the exercise, which concluded Nov 23 with a positive balance in the preparation for the defense of all troops.

The practices were developed from Monday 19 and the brigades of production and defense next to MTT and control organizations at all the levels had an outstanding participation, he affirmed.

Heads and officials described as successful the five days of Moncada 2007, including central and western provinces, with actions in all the structures of the armed and not armed component.

This training exercise is a way to maintain the military invulnerability of Cuba.

The exercise of chiefs, and command and direction organs, known as Moncada 2007, has commenced today in the territories of the Central and Western Armies and large units subordinate directly to the Ministry of the Revolutionary Armed Forces — MINFAR.

During five days, until November 23, exercises will be conducted with the participation of command and direction organs of armed and unarmed structured components, armed units and the shoring of regular troops, Territorial Troops Militia (MTT) and a part of the population integrate to the defense zones.

Moncada 2007 will serve to measure the preparation of command and direction organs as well as demonstrate the abilities reached in different categories of personnel in the Year of Defense Preparation.

These exercises will make possible the constant improvement of the strategic concept of the War of All the People, which will be ultilized to comfront and obtain victory against an armed agression against the nation.
