Police force ranks grow

Cuba’s National Revolutionary Police (Policía Nacional Revolucionaria—PNR) force is increasing its ranks. Since 2009, the national police force has seen an increase of 3,000 officers, having graduated from Havana-based Mártires de Tarara Police Officers Training Academy,  notes Cuban state media. Defense expenditures continue to increase

In 2010, the Cuban government increased its defense and internal order expenditures by 2%. Police force expands

December 13, 2010

More than 3,000 young Cubans, in the last five years, have graduated from the National Revolutionary Police’s Basic School (named Mártires de Tarará) in Havana. Thirty-five percent of graduates are women, whom have taken specialized positions such as public order agents, motorized units, patrol drivers and mobile administrative units. [Granma]
